Virgin of Campana
Spain (1596)
Tradition has it that after rebuilding the parish on the remains of an old chapel from 1507, workmen were carrying out excavations in 1596.
The workers ended their workday, but forgot their tools and, in coming back for them, there was a collapse in the excavations. Miraculously an image of the Virgin was found intact. Many miracles followed.
Today these events are remembered by townspeople who venerate their patron on February 16 - 19 with processions, flowers, bells, and a 21 gun salute.
The Virgin of Campana was proclaimed Patroness of Campana and crowned canonically on April 25, 1915.
