Our Lady of the Remedies
Cart ma, Spain (1579)
A shepherd found what he thought was a little doll and decided to take it to his daughter as gift, but every time he brought it home, it disappeared and returned to where he found it.
When he recognized it was an image of the Virgin Mary he built a chapel there.
The name of the Remedies dates to1579 as a result of her intercession in the plague suffered by the region.
On April 23, 1579, it was decided by the inhabitants to take the image of their patron in procession for stopping the plague. The Municipal Council and diocesan bishop decided to celebrate thereafter in thanksgiving every April 23.
