Our Lady of the Oak 3
Visora di Conflenti, Italy (1578)
The Mother of God appeared on June 7, 1578 to a lowly shepherd, named Lorenzo Folino. The young man was resting in the shade when he heard sweet music and saw the Virgin Mary surrounded by angels in a large oak tree. She asked him to tell the priest to build a church. After apparitions to others, the church was finally built.
It became a place of pilgrimage, and there arose votive icons, in one of them was a large stone in the shape of a foot referred to as “The Lady of the Tread.”
In 1921 a fire destroyed the shrine but in 1958, it was rebuilt in the same place as it is today. Our Lady of Visora is venerated with the title of “Madonna della Quercia”.
