Our Lady of Mercy 2
Croce di Savenone, Italy (1527)
On May 14, 1527 Mary Amadini, a 22 year old from a poor family, who worried how to feed her family and care for her twelve year old sore-stricken brother Andrea, came home early to go to collect firewood and bring to the bakery hoping to get some bread. While gathering, she discovered some silver coins and filled her apron before returning.
On May 22, she prayed in gratitude to the Virgin who appeared to her and made known the impending punishment of her Son which could be abated by three Saturdays of fasting and penance. To prove the veracity of the apparition, Our Lady cured the leprosy of her brother. The people decided to build a Shrine where many miracles later occurred.
