Icon of the Mother of God of Elets

Russia (1060)

The Elets Icon of the Mother of God appeared in the year 1060.

It received its name because it appeared in a cathedral church dedicated to the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God in the city of Elets, Orlov province.

January 11 (on the old Orthodox calendar and January 24th on the new) was established as the feast day of this icon.
