Holy Mary of the Miracles
Morbio Inferiore, Switserland (1594)
The Virgin appeared to the two girls from Milan, Caterina and Angela who were poor, sick and disturbed by the devil, on a hill in Switzerland in 1594 and cured them.
The “Madonna of milk” ordered the construction of a sanctuary that became the Holy Mary of Miracles shrine on the border of Italy.
On July 29, 1927 the image was crowned by Bishop Aurelio Bacciarini. In 1990 the sanctuary was declared as Minor Basilica by Pope John Paul Il.
The miracle is remembered every year at the feast day of July 29 with a novena, first Mass celebrated at 3 AM and celebrations until evening.
