Blessed Virgin of the Adoration

Fivizzano, Italy (1596)

In the small town of Fivizzano, a humble woman  named Margaret lived the ordinary life of a mother,  when she suddenly fell ill and confounding doctors  who couldn't identify her  illness, lay in bed for  eighteen years with no hope of recovery.

On May 5, 1596, Margaret greeted a friend who was  to bring to her a miraculous image of Our Lady, The  Madonna della Ghiara. To her disappointment, he had  forgotten, but looking up she saw the desired image  appearing above her. With a cry of excitement and  gratitude, she was healed.

The news spread  throughout the town, and a shrine was built. To this day Our Lady is venerated under the title of  “Our Lady  of Adoration.”
