The true face of Mary
The true face of Mary
In the TV program “The true face of Mary” they went in search of the woman behind Maria.
Searches were made in Rome, Nazareth and Tel Aviv.
The search involved a historian, the world's best 3D designer and a physical anthropologist specializing in skulls and bones of humans who lived 2,000 years ago.
On the basis of all the data obtained, including paintings found on female mummies from that time, an ingenious computer program was used to create a woman, as Mary must have looked at that time.
Over time, Mary has always been depicted as a woman with a blue headscarf and blue cloak.
However, the women at that time wore red.
But the Pope determined in the 12th century that red stood for wisdom and that did not fit with the submissive role of women at that time. So red was replaced by blue, the color of the sky.
