The Prophecies and Revelations of Saint Bridget of Sweden
Saint Bridget of Sweden (1303–1373) was canonized by Pope Boniface IX in the year 1391. The revelations were soon accorded an exceptionally high degree of authenticity, authority and importance. Pope Gregory XI (1370-1378) agreed and confirmed them and passed a very positive verdict, as did Boniface IX (1389-1404) in the papal document Ab origine mundi, par. 39 (October 7, 1391). These books are a mirror in which the soul can see its stain and learn what pleases and displeases God. Read this book over and over and you will learn how to love God and your neighbor, how to displease the earthly and temporal things, how to strive for the eternal and heavenly, how to avoid the sorrows of this world for the sake of Christ endures and how you are condescending to prosperity and temptations, how you give thanks to God in sickness, how you can be in good health without pride, how you do not become presumptuous in riches, nor dejected in afflictions.
