Saint Philip of Bethsaida

Philip was one of the first of Jesus' twelve apostles. Some Church Fathers assumed that the Apostle Philip was the same person as Philip the Evangelist of Acts, but that is not certain.

He was one of the first disciples of Jesus. Everything we know about him comes from the Bible.

The apostle Philip is from the same place as Andrew, Bethsaida on Lake Tiberias.

Philip was a student of John the Baptist. Later he is said to have preached in Hierapolis (now Pamukkale in Turkey), where he was finally crucified upside down and then stoned.

Philip was interred in 570 in the Basilica of the Holy Twelve Apostles (Santi XII Apostoli).
