Our Lady of the Apparition

Pellestrina, Italy (1716)

On Tuesday, August 4, 1716, the feast of St. Dominic, about six o'clock in the morning a 14 year old boy named John Di Pasquale Scarpa, 14, while on his way to the parish church to bring communion to three sick people, saw a strange woman wearing a long blue dress embroidered with red stars and a white veil.

She encouraged him to pray for the souls in Purgatory    and have masses said for them. She touched his left   wrist, reassuring him for a moment.

The parish priest was impressed by the boy's detailed account and welcomed the donations he collected for masses to be said for the deceased.
