Our Lady of Promp Succor

New Orleans, Louisiana, USA (1809)

During the French Revolution of the late 18th century, a french nun, Mother St. Michel, applied with a letter to Pope Pius VII to approve her transfer to aid the Ursuline convent in New Orleans, USA.

One day, she was inspired to honor her and make her known under the tile of Our Lady of Prompt Succor. Once approved, she traveled to New Orleans and arranged to have a statue installed.

Many miracles have been attributed to her intercession. The most famous historical events were the saving of the Ursuline convent from a disastrous fire and the victory of General Andrew Jackson's 6.000 American troops over the 15.000 British soldiers on the plains of Chalmette.
