Blessed Virgin of Ghiara
Reggio Emiliana, Italy (1596)
On April 29, 1596, a young seventeen year old named Marchino, dumb from birth, obtained the ability to speak, praying before the image of the Blessed Virgin of Ghiara.
The miraculous event caused a remarkable rising of the faithful. They also began pilgrimages of the brotherhoods.
Pope Clement VIII, who approved the miracle in a letter of July 29, 1596 the Sacred Congregation of Rites, also authorized pilgrimages.
A few days later, there were several miracles obtained through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin of Ghiara consisting in regaining speech and hearing.
